The WPRichSnippets plugin got a new schema markup in this update, version 1.2.1 introducing schema.org for Articles, including its sub markups and Non-Reviews functionality. Also, several enhancements has been made to the plugin.
So, we’ve got two main additions to the plugin, let me tell you more about it.
Schema for Article
Schema.org for Article allow you to mark up your post or page content as an Article, there are other more specific markups that you can choose from:
- General article
- Blog post
- News article
- Scholarly article
- Tech article
Non-Reviews functionality
One new feature that has been added in version 1.2.1 is the non-reviews functionality, which allows you to markup your content without having to enable the review features. This could be ideal for schema Article type and some other schema types we will introduce in the future.
This feature will be only available on applicable schema types, otherwise the check none check box will be disabled.

Hi Sol,
That was requested by one of our members, it was an awesome idea!
Awesome… Been waiting for this upgrade.
Great!
Can you tell me what is the advantage to marking up your post or page as an Article, like News, General, etc?
Does it look differently in Google search?
Will the article have a star rating displayed in Google search like a restaurant review?
thanks in advance for the help.
Hi Dorothy,
Here is what Google says about enabling Rich Snippets for Articles:
You can think of it as a way to markup your content, which help search engines to rank your entries in a better way, and also you can enable votes or user aggregate reviews on it, Google then may display rich snippets for those reviews and other details.
We’ve published a couple of new documentations pages that explains all supported Schema Rich Snippets and Schema Reviews types in the plugin, you may find it useful.
