The Reviews Widget have several settings to give you control over its display, it’s flexible enough to generate different ways of listing your reviews.
Using the Reviews Widget
In your WordPress widgets page, look for the Reviews Widget, drag and drop it where ever you like to show reviews entries on your sidebar like any other WordPress widget.
Below is details on how to use the Reviews Widget settings.
Widget Title
Enter a main title for the widget, if you leave this empty, no title will be showing.
Filtering widget output
There are a few settings in the Reviews Widget to query posts.
- Review Type
- Review Style Type
- Post Type
- Categories
Adjust these fields to your liking.
The mot important fields to look at is the Review Type and Post Type, choose the post type you would like the widget to display entries from.
NOTE: If you can not see output, this means widget didn’t find any reviews based on criteria you’ve set, so tweak again in the WordPress customizer to pull data from the right criteria.
Widget Tumb Image
The Reviews Widget can display a thumbnail for the review entry, it tries several sources to come up with an image, the widget has a sort of complex functions to do so.
You can set thumb size as width and height, plus setting the alignment of thumbnails.
Excerpts
You can show excerpts, set how many words to show, and include a “Read more” link.
Order reviews
If you enable the check box where it says “Order by best rating?“, the widget will order your reviews by highest average.
